ADMISSION FEES FOR 2019 – That is some BS right?
The first 11 years of 40s was FREE, and our unique situation here on this property allowed for that. After the events last year involving the town ambulance and drunk driver, the town has laid down all sorts of new rules and requirements that the show must adhere to in order to permit it. First and foremost is the town law involving 1000 or less people at any event. ( response in the 1970s to the Woodstock 69 festival ) This corners us into a system where we can only allow 1000 people to register. Last year we had almost 1600 registrants, and of course not all of them showed up. So in order to keep it so only people who are really invested in coming to the show, we have to charge. this insures you actually come, and you are invested in the idea, not just taking up space on a hot ticket that you may or may not plan on using. There are a host of other mandatory things the town is asking for to approve the permitting and i won’t bore everyone with the details, but its basically all amount money and this is what is going to drive us to charge a pre-paid only entrance fee. At first this sounds terrible, but if you use more advanced thinking, it comes out more like this…….. only the true enthusiasts will come, the ones that cherish the event, and the treat it properly. It will create a better atmosphere than ever, and will allow you to guarantee a spot in the show field for your car. The admission fees will deal with the moneys lost to permit the show.. We will still need your support for the other operational costs like years before, by participating in the Audi 4000 raffle, and buying 40s merch. Now that we are under the public scrutiny, all sorts of things have to be done by the book and that is just nothing but money spent to appease those who are watching.
ALL ATTENDEES WILL BE REQUIRED TO PRE-REGISTER to attend including spectators and those riding in a registered persons car, Pre Reg details to come at a later date… The show has grown to a point where its a VW and AUDI only event. When you register with anything else you will be on invite only basis and your application will be reviewed… Include a pic of you at the show or your car at the show previously and you will be automatically considered. All others will have to have to create a convincing reason why we should allow you to take up precious space at a VAG show…
PRE-REG OPTIONS – you will have the option to hold a festival pass, or a day pass. Day pass holders will be indicating that they are intending to leave the show after awards and will not be permitted to drink alcoholic beverages during their stay. ( aka the reason we had our incident last year involving the ambulance ) Festival pass holders will receive a different wristband indicating they plan to stay the evening and are more than welcome to bring, purchase, and drink alcohol at the event. This will be strictly enforced by security and you will be BLACK LISTED AND BANNED if you are caught drinking with a day pass. You can thank the lady that hit our town ambulance for all this. But safety of our town citizens is paramount.

May 4th is the day to be alive this year. 40s is kicking off its 12th annual GTG. If you are new to the show, it is the chillest, most laid back show format of all time and has some of the most unique and high quality cars around. It is a true enthusiasts event with a cultural and social aspect that is unrivaled by any other show. Since we don’t focus on Stance alone, we avoid the riffraff. Euro cars ONLY. THERE WILL BE NO OTHER TYPES OF CARS ALLOWED on the show field PERIOD…!!!!!! Unless you contact me prior and are are on a very special but limited list. Don’t be that guy.
CASTING VOTES FOR YOUR FAVORITE EURO – the idea that you need to cast votes with your empty 40 bottle is still real folks. – Bring a 40 and participate.
Don’t forget about the special feature at nightfall. The giant 18×12 foot drive in size outdoor “Euro Speed Theater” will be in full effect. Of course the normal 15 foot diameter campfire, beer pong etc will also be in full tilt awesome mode. Giant 1981 VW dealer sign and a matching Audi dealer sign will light your way around.
EURO RAVE PARTY IN THE DJ TENT at nightfall. Get on that as soon as you hear the beats fire up, as the town is limiting the length of time we can pound the ground with those fresh beats. DJ Caviar and DJ Rebis will be spinning out of the 1970 VW panel van again just like last year.
As usual we are raffling off a WHOLE car. Tickets will be $10 each or 3 for $ 20 just like previous years. This years car 1982 Audi 4000 very rare 2 door model. Its a two wheel driver 5 speed manual in great shape. Look for details on that moving forward.
We will be selling unique T-shirts again with cool graphics. 40s Coozies, Hoodies and other merch. With town compliance the show is expensive to hold so please support a great event by participating in the raffle and/or the shirts.
Camping will remain Free – Camping will be granted via a pre-registration system only. Your pre-reg will grant you an after hours wristband. Camping will be exclusively conducted on the adjacent field across the street where no cars are permitted. ( no camp fires per town and land owner’s request )
VENDING – Anyone looking to Vend, should contact Aaron Smith at audi4evr@gmail.com . Vending will be limited as usual, but very cheap to attend.
Show closes 6pm – You don’t have to leave, but no one else is allowed in after 6pm. Again, I say it every year, it is not an after party for a bunch of bimbos in Hondas, but more a rare cultural treat for those who came for the show. Camping is available because face it, a long day in the Sun, drinking Malt liquor, makes you drunk and tired. Leaving the event puts you and others in danger. Town, County, Watershed DEP and State Police had a commanding presence on area roads last year, and you should expect the same. You leave, you will get caught. No question about it.
AFTER DARK VEHICLE MOBILITY BAN – Here is the deal – My neighbors are mad cool, but they don’t want to hear engines, and have headlights beaming into their homes all night long. We also had a few minor ( which could have been major ) incidents involving vehicles on the move…. NEW RULE – Have your vehicle moved upfront if you are camping out by Dusk.. No Cars start their engines PERIOD after Dark. Seems minor, but it is a major concern for those who know why. Thank You in advance for your cooperation.
No burnouts, no doughnuts in the show field, no drugs, no underage drinking, and don’t come with a bad attitude. Bring your Friendly attitude and experience a rare chance to meet some like minded folks who live, breath, and sleep VW and Audi!!
NO FIGHTING – SERIOUSLY DRUNK FIGHTING WILL LAND YOU A CAB RIDE TO TOWN AT YOUR EXPENSE – NO KIDDING – BAD ATTITUDES, OLD BEEFS, OR GENERAL POOR BEHAVIOR WILL BE MET BY SECURITY SETTING YOU TO THE CURB AND A CAB RIDE TO TOWN. IF YOU CAN’T STAY COOL, STAY HOME!!!!
Bring SUNSCREEN, Flashlights, pop tents, sleep tents, water, food, what ever you need, but keep in mind that the small store 1 mile away will get tapped out. The next closest store is 10 miles away. Come prepared. Bring Cash money to buy things, there is poor cell service, so don’t expect to pay for things using Pay-pal or any other electronic methods.
DOGS – We would prefer you don’t bring them, but if you can’t find someone to watch them, they can come but Leashed only – one year someone actually got bit. We can’t have packs of dogs running around. Keep them leashed. We all love a great dog to accompany us with our hobbies, during camping, and in cases of great outdoor events like 40s. But clean up after them, and keep them on a leash. Thank you.
Lastly, The whole show format is not common. It relies solely on the proper behavior, moral aptitude, and common decency of the guests. For lack of better words, This is your show! Treat it like you are hosting it. Have my back, like it was your own. You know right and wrong, and you have the authority to speak up and straighten a dangerous situation out. Without proper guidance the show cannot continue in the way it has become known for. Treat this special event with care, and it will be here for you in the years to come. Thank you
